The Rensselaer Central Middle School swim team swam against their northern county rival Kankakee Valley Middle School on Thursday March 1st. With RCMS coaches TJ Bogan and Beth Korniak, Rensselaer was able to Swim and Dive their way to their third victory of the season, winning the KVMS swim meet 112 to 71. Always, RMCS congratulate all the swimmers of both KVMS and RCMS swim teams.

The winning streak began with (Conner Parker, Ary Nelson, Matthew Swartz, and Cora Peck) in the 200 Medley Relay taking First Place with a time of 2.24. Followed by Kayne Robinson, Addison Hesson, Emily Myers, Jenna Minter taking Second place a mere 5 seconds later, while KVMS took 3rd, 4th, and 5th place.

The Bombers were able to continue the momentum with a 1st and 2nd place by Conner Parker and Solcy Sanchez in the 200yd Freestyle. Followed by another 1st and 2nd by Ary Nelson and Emily Myers in the 100yd IM. In the 50yd Free Anderson Heinig took a wonderful 3rd place with a personal best time of 41.13, for this young swimmer.

Although there were 2 rounds of Exhibition Diving, KVMS took 1st and 2nd while RCMS’s own Hayden Box took 3rd. Hannah Wisely and Aryanna Baldwin finishing 5th and 6th. Great job to our young divers.

RCMS continued to show their abilities with Emily Myers and Matthew Swartz taking 1st and 2nd in the 50yd Butterfly, and then followed by Lilly Cook in 1st in the 100yd Freestyle.

The 400yd Freestyle once again showed the strong swimming ability of the Bombers with them sweeping the top three spots. With Matthew Swartz putting up a time of 5.24min for 1st, Conner Parker time of 5.27min for 2nd and Solcy Sanchez at time of 6.09min taking 3rd. In the 200yd Freestyle Relay, RCMS took 1st place with Jenna Minter, Kayne Robinson, Addison Hesson, and Cora Peck with a time of 2.23, KVMS took 2nd and RCMS’s Anderson Heinig, Sydney Arndt, Hayden Box, and Hannah Wisely taking 3rd with a time of 2.51. In the next two individual events, RCMS took 1st place, starting with 100yd Backstroke with Kayne Robinson with a time of 1.22 and the 100yd Breaststroke Lilly Cook taking 1st with a time of 1.28, 3 seconds off her personal best time.

RCMS closed out the night in the 400yd Freestyle Relay, with RCMS taking 1st and 2nd place. Matthew Swartz, Emily Myers, Solcy Sanchez, and Ary Nelson putting up 1st place time of 4.44. Conner Parker, Jenna Minter, Kayne Robinson, and Cora Peck in 2nd with a time of 5.18.

RCMS is 3-0 on the season with a home invitational meet Saturday March 3rd. Next week the Bombers take on Delphi and Harrison.
