The Bombers continue their record setting season by collecting an 8-0 victory over Benton Central on Thursday evening. In Class 2A MaxPreps places the Bombers as 2nd in the state behind powerhouse Manchester and in front of 3rd ranked South Bend St. Joseph. Rensselaer scored 4 goals early in the first half, those coming from junior Matt McGowan (2 goals), sophomore Luke Dixon, and senior Jerrett Nagel. In the second half, McGowan earned a hat trick at the 14:08 mark, Nagel, freshman Israel Hernandez, and Alex Zaragosa scored 1 goal each. Luke Dixon had 2 assists in the contest, while Austin Martinez, Jayro Padilla, Zaragosa, and Ethan Riegle had 1 assist each. Jacob Hillan and Alex Gull each had 4 steals in the contest, and sophomore defender Juventino Miguel Cruz had 3 steals for the defense. The Bombers will try to hold on to the 2nd place ranking after their next contest against Hammond Gavit this Saturday. The Bombers have never been 10-0 in any prior season in the programs history.
