On Thursday evening the RCMS boys took on the Kankakee Valley Cougars in their final game before Christmas break, and in a very exciting game prevailed by a score of 38-37! The Bombers led the whole game, but only by 3-5 points the whole game. Everytime the Bombers scored, KV came right back with a basket of their own. It was nip and tuck the entire game. In the 4th quarter the Bombers were able to hit 5 of 7 free throws to go ahead by 4 points. KV hit a 3 with under 2 seconds to play to make the score 38-37 Bombers. After a time-out the Bombers were able to get the ball inbounced and able to run out the clock for the victory! Scoring leaders for the Bombers was Colby Chapman 19 pts., Dalton Henry 8 pts, Drew Cain 4 pts, Tommy Boles 3 pts, Matt Branderburg 2 pts, and Nole Marshand and Brocc Beier both had 1 pt. The Bombers record now going into the Christmas break is 7-4.
The RCMS “B” team was also in action against the KV Cougars and suffered their 1st loss of the season by a score of 44-32. Scoring for the Bombers was Cassius Pulver 9 pts, Tristan Weitrich and Matt Brandenburg both with 7 pts, Carter Drone 5 pts, and Nolan Potts and Harrison Odle both had 2 pts. The “B” record is now 4-1 heading into the Christmas break.
