Game Recap

Rensselaer Central came out firing on all cylinders tonight for Military Appreciation night hosted by North Newton H.S. and came away with a convincing 45-6 victory to improve to 2-0 on the young season. Bombers came out of the gates throwing early and often to race to a 22-0 1st quarter lead. The scoring in the 1st quarter was capped off by Brayden Wright who jumped a slant and interception returned for touchdown. Bombers went for 2 to make it 22-0. 2nd quarter was much of the first, set up by stingy Bomber defense and offensive touchdowns to finish the half at 36-0. At halftime, North Newton graciously honored all Veterans at the game with a splendid halftime where all were announced and players and coaches had an opportunity to say thanks to all those who have served!! Bombers offensively were led by QB Jaylen Gilbert who was 10-13 passing for 210 yards and 3 touchdowns. Leading the way rushing was Jordan Owens who 6 carries for 74 yards and touchdown from 49 yards out. Owens also led the Bombers in pass catching by snagging 4 balls for 81 yards and another touchdown. Noah Donahue opened the night scoring by catching and running for 39 yards out in the 1st quarter. Final Touchdown through the air came by Gilbert to Wright to cap off a great 2 min drill before the half as they hooked up for 28 yard score. Ben Korniak led all tacklers with an outstanding game from MLB spot and 11 tackles including 4 solos. Bombers will travel next week to visit longtime rival North Judson for the final meeting between both schools.
