Game Recap

Rensselaer Central Bombers opened up the 2017 season with a Victory over county rival Kankakee Valley tonight in annual Cracker Barrel game by score of 27-13!!! Bombers rushed for 253 yards and 3 touchdowns. Jaylen Gilbert passed for our final touchdown when he hit Aiden Stevens on a 15 yard down the middle of the field catch. Leading rusher for the Bombers was Jordan Owens who rushed 14 times for 101 yards and 2 touchdowns. Bombers 1st rushing touchdown was by Kiren Hesson who jumped on a loose ball in the endzone in the 1st quarter. Defensively, the Bombers were led by Ben Korniak who had 10 tackles followed by Tony Ybarra with 9. Luke Standish added 7. Bombers caused 3 turnovers on the night when Thadd Edelman and Jose Hernadez both jumped on fumbles by KV and Jackson Hughes had an interception in the 1st half. Rensselaer goes on the road next week to visit North Newton at 7 p.m. Don’t forget to catch JV Football action at 6 p.m. Monday the 21st at Kankakee Valley.
