Game Recap

Rensselaer Central got back in the win column on Saturday afternoon against Delphi Community 64-54. The Bombers got off to a quick start in the first quarter scoring 7 quick points. Delphi controlled the first quarter from that point forward. The quarter ended 19-15 in Delphi’s favor.

The second quarter was dominated by Rensselaer as they outscored Delphi 20-9. Jaylen Gilbert was able to get to the line and take advantage going 4 out 4, while finishing 2-three-point plays. Landon Balch finished the first half with 13 points.

Delphi controlled the third quarter and Rensselaer controlled the fourth quarter. The second half scoring was 29-26 Bombers. Throughout the game, Rensselaer shot 15-18 from the foul line. Landon Balch ended the game with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Jaylen Gilbert ended the game with 22 points. Grant Myers had a great all-around game with 10 points, 6 assists and 5 steals. Jerrett Nagel added 4 assists. Kobe Austin and Evan Brandenburg came in and gave good minutes off of the bench.

Ben Hillan was the player of the game tonight for his defensive efforts. He held Delphi’s leading scorer to 3 first half points on all Free Throws. Ben also ended the game with 9 points.

The next game for the Bombers is next Thursday at home against conference foe Benton Central.
